My Motivation

As a girl of color in an all-girls school, I've experienced the benefits of diversity-focused education. While I appreciate efforts like our Asian Affinity club, I've realized that addressing challenges faced by girls of color requires more than celebrating individual cultures. A joint meeting of various affinity groups revealed the power of unity across different ethnicities, creating a profound sense of empowerment. This experience highlighted the need for a more comprehensive approach to support girls of color, one that addresses our shared experiences and challenges beyond individual cultural celebrations.

This experience was the catalyst for Empower Girls of Color (EGC).
I firmly believe that girls of color should unite, support one another, and rise together. By creating a space that fosters intersectionality and celebrates our shared experiences as well as our unique identities, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community.

My mother often reminds me that her generation's responsibility is to create a better world for mine. This wisdom inspires me. As my colleagues and I grow through EGC, we are committed to making meaningful changes that will positively impact the next generation.
